I haven't been to a wedding since like, 10 years. Damn long please.
To me, as a kid, weddings were happy days when I got to wear flowers on my head, and munch on gross fruit cakes in pretty boxes!
Gosh, the fruit cakes were so popular back then!
Ok, back to the wedding. It's also my first cross-culture wedding! It was kind of different, as it was held at a Community Club. Not bad at all!
The place was air-conditioned and nicely done (: FOOD WAS GREAT OMGGG.
I never really had Malay/Muslim food too. The last time was probably at Bintan?
Of course, pratas, nasi lemak, curry puff not counted LAH. Is prata even malay?
Anyway, Mashita, my muslim colleague, brought us around the buffet area, and introduced the dishes to us (:
My favourite malay dish is now LONTONG! OMG I loveeeee KETUPATS! I can todali eat it on it's own too! And I'm still a bit sad that I can't make a ketupat out of ribbons. You know, the decoration thing?
I WANT TO LEARN LEH! Anyone can teach me?? Then maybe someday I can make a real ketupat. Wheeeeee (:
Saw the bride & groom making their way in. OMG SO COOL PLEASE. The guys were playing the drums behind them; it was like a grand welcome! When they were seated, there was even a dance performance for them! Kind of reminded me of the oriental palace!
Like, the king and queen would sit on their thrones, and graceful maidens would dance for them.
It's so traditional and cultural and I like it! I kind of envy the tradition and unity they have.
Like the whole family would wear the same clothes, OKAY not exactly the same, but the fabric and color all that. One look and it's like, FAMILY.
Chinese don't even really wear our traditional costumes at all. People only dress their kids in mini Qi Paos, maybe cos it's cool. I think even middle-aged aunties would look hot in cheongsams. It's a shame that we are so trying to be angmoh and everything.
White weddings, western fashion influences, the "Silk is sucky when I perspire" excuse, OLD SCHOOL IS COOL MAN.
Ok back to the wedding again. The groom then gave a short and touching speech, introducing his wife as the "Queen of his heart". It's so cheesy, but seriously, it sure is great to be a queen and, rule someone's heart (:
He then went on to sing a song dedicated to her! I think the title of the song is "You & Me" or something, by Lifehouse. I have never heard of this song before, but I think the groom sang really great! Good voice and I could todali feel his emotions while sitting down there! Towards the end of the song, he even held the bride's hand and hugged her.
I WAS MOVED TO TEARS.
OMG I'm such a sucker for such things. But seriously, it was really romantic.
