Went to watch Avatar ytd, in 3D. Ok back to the 3D part in a while.
The film was great man. At first, everytime I saw the McDonald's ad on tv, I thought Avatar was some dumb animation with blue people in it.
Later on, it seems like everyone was talking about it. I was curious about all that hype, and I went to wiki the film. Then I realised it was a film by James Cameron! [He's the director of Titanic, btw]
And holy crap, he planned this for 15 years?!! Like wrote it and created the setting, people, and language for the film. Omg like, CREATE A LANGUAGE.
IT WAS DUPER COOL, and everyone should watch it.
Ok now about the 3D. With all my previous 3D experiences, I kind of expected the IN-YOUR-FACE-3D effects. But no, it wasn't. I was kind of disappointed lah, paid extra 4 bucks leh. I thought I'd see arrows flying to me, dragons licking my face, you know you know. But everything was just a little bit nearer, that's all.
Worst of all, the 3D glasses was totally uncomfortable to put on! It hurt my nose bridge, [ok not mine high enough like an ang moh] and the image wasn't shiok so I'd rather watch in normally.
But then when I removed the glasses, the image was blurry. SIAN TILL BAO.
So imagine, for the full duration of the film, I HAD TO HOLD THAT STUPID PAIR OF GLASSES! And all that 3D shit gave me a splitting headache when I got home.
NO MORE 3D, EVER! I think the normal version would do just fine.
Went home, read 8 days, and there was an article about 3D films! OMG. I should have read that earlier.
They said the 3D for movies, it's not the in your face kind, it's digital 3D, hence the lack of "BOM!" moments. You get what I mean.
But on the whole you should really watch Avatar! (:
